Happy Music Monday Muses! I hope you all had a fabulous weekend!
Before I jump into Music Monday, I want to shoutout to everyone who has already checked out my latest YouTube video. If you didn’t know, I made my return to YouTube after two years (!!!) away from the platform. I felt good to get back in the saddle of things with creating content for YT and I’m excited to keep it going! If you haven’t watched, subscribed, and liked yet; you can watch it here.
Anyways, let’s talk about music this week.
This week’s Muse Mixx is dedicated to music I listen to when I’m more tapped into my gaming alter ego, Charlizey.
Gaming is fun for me but also acts as a wonderful stress reliever. I’ve been gaming since I was younger and then I fell off for a while and got back into it around when I started dating my now fiancé. I grew as something else we enjoyed doing together and allowed me to just continue being myself. Amazing enough, previous guys I dated, weren’t into gamer girls. Go figure.
So this week’s Mixx, will be affectionately known as “Charlizey’s Way.” Also, you can find me gaming on Xbox with my tag, CharlizeyXo.
This is only a piece of my master gaming playlist, and by piece, I know it’s pretty long….but ya’ll aren’t new around here anymore! Ya’ll know sometimes I can’t hold myself! And if you are new, welcome in!! I love music so much that sometimes I go hard in the paint with these playlists.

Now as far as gaming goes, I started out on Playstation and switched over to Xbox. I had a Gameboy Advance Color and a Nintendo DS. One of my biggest gaming wishes is that they’d remaster and bring back the Starfox Command games. I primarily play Apex Legends a lot these days but I also love playing Halo, Borderlands, Injustice, Kingdom Hearts, Madden, Fallout, Mortal Kombat, Fall Guys, Assassin’s Creed, Overwatch 2, Gears of War, etc. Currently, outside of Apex, I’m working through Halo Infinite and Fallout 76. I wish they’d give us another Gears of War already. I’m also playing Mario Odyssey and Pokemon Diamond on my Nintendo Switch.
So, about our D-Sides this week, it’s all about songs I’ve been playing recently plus songs that have been sticking out to me that have been played a lot on social media. Let’s take a look at the tracklist:

- “Saturn” by SZA
I have been obsessed with this song since they showed her performance for it during the Grammy’s. I was so excited for the official release. It’s just as beautiful as I remember.
Also, we have some celebrations this week as well. Happy 10 year anniversary to ScHoolboy Q’s album, Oxymoron. It’s hard to believe that album is already ten years old. My favorite track on the album is “Collard Greens” which is also on this week’s mixx. Kehlani’s EP, While We Wait, turned five! I still have many songs from the project in my near daily rotation, it’s also one of my favorite bodies of work by her. Her track, “RPG,” with 6LACK appears on this week’s D-Sides, is one of my favorite songs from the EP.
Before I sign off on this blog for the day, I wanted to show love to Black Girls Rock! It was announced the other day that the Black Girls Rock! Awards show would return to be televised this year after a five-year hiatus. I first fell in love with watching the show the last time it was on air and started looking for it every year since then. The show will move from BET to Lifetime and be recorded in Atlanta and then televised later in the Fall.
I also wanted to show a spotlight on Blavity for launching their own music festival! The inaugural Blavity House Party will be held in Nashville in June! Passes are on sale now and according to the comments, the lineup will be announced this Friday.
Let me know what your favorite song this week is!
