It’s Usher, Baby: The Muse Mixx Vol. 4

Happy Music Monday Muses! I hope you all are doing well and I know I’ve been MIA a bit, but we’re back live in action this week and you know I got to come out the gate swinging.

This week’s Muse Mixx is dedicated to Mr. Usher Raymond, who is fresh off performing at the Super Bowl Halftime show. In my personal opinion, it goes down as one of the most entertaining shows ever. He spanned his entire musical career, brought out segments that were seen in his Vegas residency show including the rollerskating, reunion with Ludacris and Lil Jon, a guitar spotlight on H.E.R., a reunion with will.I.am, and a shoutout from Jermaine Dupri. It was overall an extremely fun show. Honestly, it was the best part of the game for me.

Usher also recently released an album, Coming Home, and announced additional dates (including new cities and more ATL shows) for his upcoming Past, Present, & Future national tour. He also apparently got married during Super Bowl weekend?? Usher has really been doing things his way.

What better way to jump off our week than with a little more Usher? I decided this week, I’d share some of my favorite songs by Usher paired with the songs he performed yesterday.

Here’s our tracklist for the week:

  1. “She Don’t Know” featuring Ludacris
  2. “Love In This Club, Pt. II” featuring Beyonce and Lil’ Wayne
  3. “Can’t Stop Won’t Stop”
  4. “Do It To Me”
  5. “My Way”
  6. “U Don’t Have to Call”
  7. “Twisted” featuring Pharrell Williams
  8. “Caught Up”
  9. “Nice & Slow”
  10. “Burn”
  11. “Lil Freak” featuring Nicki Minaj
  12. “Bad Girl”
  13. “Scream”
  14. “Love In This Club” featuring Young Jeezy
  15. “U Got It Bad”
  16. “Superstar”
  17. “U Remind Me”
  18. “Yeah!” featuring Ludacris and Lil Jon
  19. “Hot Thing” featuring A$AP Rocky
  20. “Hot Tottie” featuring Jay-Z
  21.  “DJ Got Us Fallin’ In Love” featuring Pitbull
  22. “Hey Daddy (Daddy’s Home)”
  23. “Lemme See” featuring Rick Ross
  24. “Show Me”
  25. “Confessions Part II”
  26. “OMG” featuring will.I.am
  27. “Lingerie”
  28. “My Boo” featuring Alicia Keys
  29. “There Goes My Baby”
  30. “Trading Places”
  31. “Don’t Waste My Time” featuring Ella Mai
  32. “Crash”
  33.  “You Make Me Wanna…”
  34. “Good Kisser”

Before I forget, I need street justice for “My Boo” and “OMG” because I didn’t know folks didn’t like these songs so much until I was scrolling through Twitter! What ya’ll mean ya’ll don’t like him and Alicia’s collab. It’s a 2000s classic! And I’m a Dance/EDM girlie, I have been for a while now, him playing around and going pop for a hot minute and making “OMG” was fun for me. It also has one of my favorite dance breaks from him in a music video.

While I didn’t do a D-Sides this week, I will give you a little rundown on my “Love At First Listen” feels from recently released music.

First up, ScHoolboy Q released a new track called “Yeern 101” and I have been playing it out! The only critique I have is that I wish it was longer! I’d love to see him give us an extended version on his upcoming album, Blue Lips, which will be out on March 1st.

Another love at first listen is Bryson Tiller’s latest single, “Whatever She Wants.” I love a good “get ready” song and plus, is it too much to say that I just love Bryson’s voice. I haven’t taken Trapsoul out of rotation at all, and am looking forward to more new music from him.

Let me know what new music you’ve been enjoying lately and what your favorite Usher song is.

Musically yours,
